So we just finished a 7.6 mile hike down the canyon. We stayed the night in a hostel called the Phantom Ranch, and we hiked back up 9.5 miles and 1 vertical mile. Needless to say, we are exhausted... BUT IT WAS AWESOME! A lot of the time, we couldn't look around because we were so high it would make us dizzy. At the phantom ranch, they served 45 dollar steak that was supplied by mules. However, we opted not to pay for the 100 dollars worth of steak and brought our peanut butter jelly and bologna sandwiches. We went to bed at 7:15 and woke up at 5 am. We were on the trail by 5:45 and made it to the top at 12:45. Interesting things about the trail: There was mule poop the whole way, there was ice at the top, we went through 3 tunnels, 4 waterfalls, crossed 5 creeks, and 2 suspension bridges over the Colorado River! YAY! Now we are on our way to Colorado.
